Donations

MVFD has two sources of funding. First, each parcel in our service area has a modest parcel tax that was voted in most recently in the year 2000. We collect a little over $22,000 per year from this tax. The revenue is held in a county account and spent on items related to fire and safety in our service area. The board of directors makes recommendations to the county supervisors regarding the use of the funds. The largest expense category is currently the truck payment for our first out fire truck which costs $11,000 per year.

The vast majority of our other revenue comes from donations through our annual fund, or our starlight auction. Other revenue includes a $50 per call reimbursement from the county as well as any grants we are able to obtain.
